In a previous life I was book reviewer for the Gay & Lesbian Times, in San Diego. It was a brilliant, difficult time to be reviewing books because there was a huge, new, vibrant upswelling of queer and gay lit being published; it was also the age of Reagan and the era of AIDS. At the time I dabbled in a bit of reportage, as well, however I learned I could never stray too far from my true calling, which is fiction.
